With only a few days left of 2018 I thought it was about time to take stock and have a look back over a very special year indeed! Take a look at my slideshow below, and if you have a few minutes, have a read of my post too. I’ve put a few more images below that aren’t in the slideshow so you can always have a scroll through those too if you fancy.
This year has been both challenging and pretty amazing for me – some of you will know that in May I gave birth to my little girl Abby, who is now nearly eight months old. Everyone says you can’t prepare yourself for being a parent, but you definitely can’t prepare yourself for being a parent and still attempting to run your own business! It has been a crazy juggling act this year which has tested me to my limits but I have also had the most amazing year!
Awards!
I captured fewer weddings this year as I had a few months off after Abby arrived, but I was right back into the swing of things over the summer and into autumn, photographing 20 amazing weddings in total throughout 2018. Alongside mummying and working I also found time to enter a couple of awards this year, and I was absolutely blown away to be recognised in both. I was shortlisted for Best Photographer in the East of England at The Wedding Industry Awards, and awarded Highly Commended Photographer in the Four Counties Wedding Awards. I was particularly shocked to win the 4CWA award in such a competitive photography category, especially in a year when I shot fewer weddings, and popped out a human! All I can say is a huge thank you to all my amazing couples that voted for me, you are all amazing! I’ve had such fun at all my weddings this year.
Styled shoots and features!
This year I’ve been involved in not one, but two awesome styled shoots with some incredible local wedding industry talent. Back in February I shot an awesome tribal themed styled shoot which was featured on Festival Brides and Magpie Wedding. This shoot was also included in print and online in The Times, which was a particular highlight! In October I captured a truly stunning styled shoot that took place at North Mymms Park (which is definitely shaping up to be one of my favourite local venues) and that was featured on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings. I’ve also had several features on The English Wedding Blog too!
Alongside these features, I’ve also had a cover in Your Herts and Beds wedding magazine, from Amy and Mark’s gorgeous 2017 wedding. It’s so exciting seeing my work in print!
Thank you!
Big thanks must once again go to my second shooters and friends in all areas of the industry who have been amazingly supportive as ever, particularly Tori Deslauriers who was amazing in the months before and after Abby’s arrival. I must also send huge love and hugs to my family and friends who have been amazing, particularly my mum who has been coming over to entertain the little one so I can fit in an afternoon of editing! Of course there is no way I’d be in a position to do what I do without the unwavering support of my amazing husband Pete, who has been absolutely incredible all year and the most amazing Daddy to Abigail. At least I’m not leaving you on your own anymore when I go off to shoot at the weekend!
I hope you enjoy looking through my highlights as much as I enjoyed capturing these moments and collating my end of year blog! Take a look below for the individual images – no doubt you will see lots of these weddings popping up on my blog over 2019!
If you’re recently engaged and are looking for your wedding photographer then I would absolutely love to chat to you about your plans. My availability is now extremely limited for 2019 and 2020 is booking up fast (we’re even starting to talk about 2021!) so please don’t delay in getting in touch!
