Misty Barnet Engagement Shoot – Emma and Matt

Back in September 2017 I caught up with the lovely Emma and Matt for their pre-wedding shoot. We’d arrange to meet up first thing in the morning, to avoid Emma and Matt having to take much time off work. I had hoped that meeting up really early would mean that we’d get some gorgeous morning golden light. Sadly, the weather wasn’t on our side… but it was ok. Instead, we had a really cool misty morning, which made for some really atmospheric shots!

I already knew Emma fairly well – we went to the same secondary school and grew up in the same town, but this was the first time I’d really caught up with her in a long time, and it was my first time meeting Matt. It was so nice to chat to them both and hear all about the plans for their lovely wedding, which was taking place a couple of months later at the De Vere Theobalds Estate in Hertfordshire.

Engagement shoots are a great way of getting to know your photographer, and to help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Despite some initial nerves, I think Emma and Matt actually quite enjoyed their shoot! They suggested sitting together in a tree which was cool, as I got to use some cool autumnal colours with some foreground leaves. I think the shoot looks really autumnal with the mist and golden colours, despite only being in September, so technically summer – that’s the great British weather for you I guess!

If you’re getting married and you’re considering having an engagement shoot, I’d really advise you consider it! It’s also a really fun thing to do to celebrate a special occasion like an anniversary! You can see some more examples of my pre-wedding and anniversary shoots here. Drop me a line if you’d like to discuss anything to do with your wedding photography, or if you’d like to arrange a portrait session!
