Back in July I was lucky enough to be asked to capture the Buckinghamshire wedding of two very good friends – the lovely Viky and Tom. My husband Pete had met Tom way back in university, and Tom had asked him to be the Best Man on the day – so we were most certainly ‘Team Wedding’!
The day began at Viky’s parents beautiful home in Chalfont St Giles, where I arrived to capture some early photographs of the bouquet and little details. Viky’s family are really lovely and made me feel so welcome – and they practically forced some delicious sandwiches on me for lunch(!). The marquee for the reception was already set up in their gorgeous garden, so I took the opportunity to grab a few frames of the set up in there!
I headed over to the beautiful Chalfont St Giles Parish Church to get ready for the arrival of the bride and groom, and to capture the guests arriving. Luckily my hubby succeeded in his duties of getting Tom to the church on time! The church had been decorated with some stunning floral displays, and the arch into the church was particularly spectacular!
The ceremony was very emotional and I spotted several of the congregation dabbing away tears! Once the ceremony had finished, I whisked Viky and Tom away for some couples photographs in the grounds of the church – and then it was back to the reception – on Tom’s uncle’s vintage bus!
Back at the house and reception, the guests enjoyed some bubbles whilst I took the bride and groom away for a few more photographs. We even had a little confetti tunnel in the garden, followed by a large group shot just before the heavens opened – perfect timing!
The speeches were one of my highlights of the day – each of them had the guests in stitches – particularly Pete’s Best Man speech (no favouritism I promise!) which introduced us to ‘Turbo Tom’ from university days. After the meal Viky threw her beautiful bouquet, and the couple cut their cake – then it was party time! We were treated to some spectacular dancefloor shapes from ‘Turbo Tom’ and many other guests too!
What a special day – a gorgeous one to capture, but so lovely to be such a special part of the wedding of two great friends! Thank you so much for having me Viky and Tom!!
