Sophy and Julian’s gorgeous London wedding was a delight from start to finish!
Sophy and Julian got married last August at the beautiful Morden Hall, which is a stunning country house in on the edge of Morden Hall Park, in South London. They had their ceremony at a church around the corner from Sophy’s parents house in Clapham, just a short walk away from where Sophy was getting ready. They chose Morden Hall, because of it’s stunning decor and great location. It was an elegant wedding, which had so many lovely touches that made it extra special. I love shooting weddings at Morden Hall, because the grounds are so pretty and the food is fantastic! The weather was extremely unpredictable on Sophy and Julian’s big day but even in the rain, Morden Hall is absolutely stunning. Luckily the storms cleared and we had some beautiful sunshine just in time for couples photos in the gardens.
Getting ready
Sophy got ready at her childhood home in Clapham with her family and bridesmaids, and the atmosphere was so relaxed. The bridal party then walked the short distance to the ceremony. The postman arrived just as we were leaving to get to the ceremony, and all the neighbours popped out to give Sophy their well wishes!
Julian got ready at his parents home with his brother and groomsmen, which was captured by my good friend Mike from Michael O’Sullivan Photography. The boys then jumped into a cab to get to the ceremony. stopping for a pub lunch en route!
The serious part
The wedding itself was a church service in the church that the family had attended for years. It was so lovely that the vicar knew the couple and the family so well. During the ceremony they had several beautiful readings from friends and family, which was a beautiful way of involving everyone in the ceremony. It was so special to see such a lovely couple tying the knot in the presence of all their nearest and dearest.
After the ceremony
One of the most memorable parts of the day was when there was a thunder clap just as the couple exited the church for their confetti throw! The confetti had to be done super speedily before the heavens completely opened and there was a torrential downpour and everyone got drenched!
The reception was a short distance away and Sophy and Julian arranged for a London Bus to take the guests there from the church, while the couple made their way to the venue in a black London cab. They decorated Morden Hall with photographs and some stunning flowers by the lovely Nicola and Flowers by Eve. They accented this with modern copper touches and foliage, and the elegant decor really suited the venue.
Morden Hall Wedding Photographer
I thought we were unlucky with the weather, but the sun shone brightly just as we finished the indoor group photos. This meant we had the opportunity to do a large group photo of everyone outdoors before taking a turn around the gorgeous gardens for some gorgeous couples pictures. You’d never know that the rain had been pouring moments beforehand.
The first dance was lovely and romantic, and they finished off the evening with a fantastic party soundtracked by an excellent live band.
The couple
Sophy wore a stunning dress with an incredible waterfall back and Julian wore black tails and a white waistcoat with a green cravat and they looked so elegant. I loved Sophy’s addition of a handmade bolero to cover her shoulders during the day. She removed this in the evening to give her two distinctly different looks. Sophy and her bridesmaids also picked out some costume jewellery from her grandmother’s collection, which was a lovely touch.
Sophy and Julian’s wedding was just the happiest occasion and everything I love about weddings. Here’s their gorgeous wedding! If you’re planning your big day at Morden Hall and are looking for a Morden Hall Wedding Photographer then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’d love to hear from you to discuss your plans.
