Zoe and Darryl got married at the gorgeous Fanhams Hall, Ware, in summer. It was a super fun sunny wedding, with lots of confetti, sunshine and scorching summer heat!
The couple met at the gym and have been together for several years. They are such a lovely couple! I know Zoe outside of the world of weddings – she is the instructor at the Kettlebells class that I attend every week, so I’d known her for a few years before she asked me to capture her big day getting married to Darryl. I recently blogged about their Welwyn Garden City pre-wedding shoot, which you can see here.
Fanhams Hall is a grand country house, and it’s got such a romantic atmosphere, especially in the gardens when the golden sun is glowing. Zoe and Darryl chose to have their wedding there because it has separate rooms for the ceremony and reception, so many options for photos in the gorgeous gardens.
Getting ready
Zoe got ready in the bridal preparation room at Fanhams with her bridesmaids, mum and her lovely daughter and flower girl Sophie, and there was such a happy vibe. It was the hottest day of the year so far – and the prep room was pretty toasty! Luckily we had an excellent hair and makeup team on hand to make everyone look amazing. Zoe wore a dress from the Ella Rosa Collection by Kenneth Winston, and looked absolutely beautiful.
Darryl got ready elsewhere in the hotel with his groomsmen. My good friend Fiona was there to capture the boys shenanigans! Darryl wore a formal suit (I always feel for the boys in their formal suits on a hot day!), and looked really handsome. Once ready, the boys were there to support Darryl as he waited nervously at the end of the ceremony room at Fanhams Hall for Zoe to arrive.
The ceremony
The ceremony took place in the beautiful Long Gallery at Fanhams Hall. The ceremony area was a lovely room, which was decorated with rose petals and blossom trees. The ceremony began with Zoe making her way down the aisle with her very proud dad, and finished with the couple dancing back down the aisle together. It was a wonderful ceremony, full of lots of laughter and excited hand squeezes. They had a harpist playing throughout, which I thought was a lovely touch and was a lovely interlude whilst the guests waited for the bride’s arrival and during the register signing.
After the ceremony, everyone made their way down to the gardens, while the newly married couple to have some time to let it sink in. Then the couple made their exit to a shower of confetti, which as you’ll know from my previous blogs, is one of my favourite moments of the day!. I got some lovely candid photos of the guests – followed by the all important group shots. Everyone did so well in the scorching heat! Whilst the guests made their way to sit down for dinner we spent a few moments in the gardens for some couples photographs. The weather was glorious, it was a stunning day.
The reception
After a lovely meal, it was time for speeches! This was one of the best bits of the wedding for me, because the father of the bride and best man’s speech were hilarious and made for some great reactions from the wedding party and their guests! Zoe’s daughter Sophie also got up to speak, which was really brave of her, and everyone loved it!
I stole Zoe and Darryl from the festivities briefly after the speeches for some more couples photos as the sun went down, and I was really pleased with how they came out. They were some of my favourite shots from the day!
The evening
After the speeches, guests tucked into the sweet table and had a go in the photobooth, and the dancefloor got started. The DJ set off some confetti canons during the first dance, and kept everyone entertained throughout the evening.
The evening ended with a huge buffet, which went down very well! The whole wedding was great fun, from the bride’s entrance to the wonderful speeches. Fanhams is one of my favourite local venues and it was so lovely that Zoe and Darryl were keen to have photos taken in and around the stunning grounds, especially on such a gorgeous day with such amazing light.
I loved this Fanhams Hall wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for a Fanham’s Hall wedding photographer, get in touch. Here are the photos!
