Ireland Destination Wedding Photographer | Galway Wedding Photographer
Way back in March 2017 I hopped onto a plane with my good friend Mike from Mike O’Sullivan Photography to help him out photographing this amazing destination wedding in Galway, Ireland. Having only briefly visited Dublin once before as a student (and mainly seen the inside of the Guinness factory when I did), I was really excited to see a bit more of Ireland and to capture a really special day for a lovely couple.
After a quick hop over the Irish Sea, we landed at Shannon airport and jumped on a coach to Galway. After checking into our lovely Air Bnb, Mike and I caught up with the couple and did a bit of a recce at the hotel the day before. We also did some exploring to find some cool spots for couples portraits in the rolling Irish countryside. It was a bit of a drizzly day, so we had our fingers crossed for better weather the next day!

On the morning of the wedding we were incredibly excited to wake up to beautiful blue skies and sunshine!
We began at the hotel where both the bride and groom were getting ready with their friends. I spent some time photographing the details, and also captured some shots of the groom and his groomsmen outside. The morning was remarkably chilled out and everyone was so happy! Soon enough, it was time to travel to the church for the ceremony.
After a lovely church service, the couple made their exit and we came to one of my favourite parts of the day – the confetti throw outside the church. I do love a good confetti throw at a wedding, and in these particular shots, I love how the bright sun backlights the confetti!
We took a few portraits close by the church, and stopped for a few couples portraits in some lovely green fields, before heading back for a drinks reception at the hotel. After a tasty wedding breakfast, and some great speeches, the celebrations continued with a live band and ceilidh dancing (what else!) in the evening. Because we were staying nearby, Mike and I even indulged in a quick pint of Guinness to toast the newlyweds good health!
I had a fantastic day capturing this wedding and a lovely time visiting the gorgeous city of Galway. I hope to go back one day soon!
