Granary Barns Wedding
I’ve been so excited to share Sophie and Gary’s stunning Granary Barns wedding with you! This lovely couple got married at the Granary Estates, Newmarket, last August. It was a wonderful wedding, with gorgeous flowers all over the tables, an incredible cake and lots of attention to detail. Dive in and have a look at all the pretty!
Getting ready
I arrived quite early and was so excited to go and say hi to Sophie, who was getting ready in the bridal cottage with her entourage. Everyone here was such a relaxed vibe. They had a mega gourmet brunch with avocado on toast – and I even got some too! It was delicious!
Gary got ready in the adjoining cottage with his best man. There was a bit of a logistical challenge to make sure the bride and groom didn’t see each other! He wore a suit from Moss, and looked really handsome.
Sophie wore a lovely dress by Justin Alexander, and she looked absolutely incredible. When it was time for the ceremony, the bridal party then walked the short distance to get to the ceremony (interrupted slightly by some passing racehorses!). Sophie’s nephew Oscar was ready and waiting to meet everyone before Sophie made her way for her registrar interview.
The ceremony
The ceremony took place in The Flint Barn of The Granary Estates. The ceremony area was a beautiful room, which was filled with amazing flowers put together by one of my favourite florists, Feather and Ferns. The ceremony began with a reading by Sophie’s nephew Oscar (he did so well standing up in front of everyone!), and finished with the couple dancing back down the aisle together as the guests threw confetti. It was a gorgeous ceremony, full of lots of laughter and so much love.
After the ceremony, I left the couple to mingle with their guests, which was the perfect time for me to get candid photos. Then we took some time out for the formal photos, which I think are really important, but like to get done nice and quickly. Sophie’s bridesmaid Carla was super helpful at gathering everyone together for me.
I got some stunning couples photos in the field whilst the guests were seated – there’s even a little swing by the cornfield which was a lovely spot for a quick photo. The weather was absolutely perfect from my point of view, with cloud during the group shots which cleared into the evening. but more on that later!
The reception
Whilst we were taking a few couples portraits, everyone else was then called in to the main Granary Barn for the wedding breakfast, which was delicious food by the amazing Hall & Co. It was so yummy, and I even had a cheeky beer with dinner! They had speeches after the meal, which were so funny – everyone was regaled with stories of the bride and groom as children which caused much laughter around the room.
The evening
After dinner, we popped outside for some more portraits, just as the golden sun began to set. One of the reasons I love a Granary Barns wedding is the gorgeous cornfields at the back of the venue. It was absolutely perfect light and I was doing my little photographers happy dance all the way through their portraits! After a bit more mingling, the dance floor got started. The live band kept everyone entertained all evening, and during the first dance there was an epic confetti canon!! There was some delicious evening food, including a ‘smores station outside by the open fire!
The evening ended with Jagerbombs for the bridal party, which was hilarious – I love to jump behind the bar for photos when that happens! The whole wedding was the most fun, from Sophie’s awesome dress to the fire pit in the evening. It was my first time photographing a wedding at the Granary Estates, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It’s an absolutely stunning venue which I hope to work at again many times in the future!
Thank you so much for photographing our wedding! We had the best time and you made us feel so relaxed – especially as I thought we’d be really awkward! Thank you so much for our photos – we love them so much!!
