Lucy & Victoria | Outdoor Grendon Lakes Wedding
It seems like such a long time ago now, but back in June I had the pleasure of being asked to photograph Lucy and Victoria’s gorgeous Grendon Lakes Wedding in Northamptonshire. I met Lucy and Victoria back at a wedding fair in the summer of 2016, and we’d caught up not long before their big day for their pre-wedding shoot on their farm, which you can see here.
It was a bright and sunny morning as I made my way to the couples home, just around the corner from the main venue to capture some of the wedding preparations. The house was full of friends and family, lots of laughs and Prosecco flowing! I spent some time first thing capturing some of the wedding details, like shoes, jewellery, flowers and buttonholes (which had all been made by Victoria, they were so pretty!) as well as the brides beautiful dresses.

There was a bit of logistical planning involved as neither of the lovely brides to be wanted to see each other in their dresses before the ceremony, so whilst one got dressed in one part of the house the other put finishing touches to make up in the bedroom! Lucy was ready first and made her way with her dad to Grendon Lakes, which was only a very short drive away. Then it was Victoria’s turn to get ready, and she made her way to the venue in a fabulously decorated camper-van with her dad!
Outdoor Ceremony
One of the things I loved about this wedding was the gorgeous aspect of the outdoor ceremony overlooking the stunning lakes. An outdoor wedding can sometimes be a worry, in case the weather takes a turn for the worse, but the clouds were on our side and gave us some lovely light throughout the formalities of the ceremony. Lucy and Victoria both made their entrances separately – and I’ve never seen two more proud dads as they escorted their beautiful daughters down the aisle. The ceremony was quite emotional, and I particularly enjoyed the part where one of the couples three dogs brought the rings to be exchanged at the front of the ceremony!
Lucy and Victoria made their exit to a shower of confetti, and then it was time to enjoy a few bubbles and start the celebrations! I also snuck them away for a quick portrait outdoor session around the grounds of Grendon Lakes. At this point the clouds began threatening a bit, but instead of rain, it just provided quite a dramatic backdrop! The couple were very indulgent with me all day and let me grab them a few different times throughout the evening for portraits – I was especially keen to make the most of the views across the lake at sunset!
Grendon Lakes Wedding
The day continued with a delicious afternoon tea and some very emotional speeches (Lucy and Victoria were kind enough to thank me personally in them, which is always so unexpected and I usually end up all embarrassed and hiding behind my camera!) and some epic dance moves to end the night. A huge thank you to this gorgeous couple for letting me be a part of your big day – It’s been a real pleasure getting to know you and your families this year and I adored capturing your special day!
