If you love photographs in the golden summer sunshine then you’ll adore this stunning wedding!
Laura and Ben got married at the awesome Offley Place, Hertfordshire, in August last year. It was a brilliant day, with a gorgeous green colour palette and a super cool couple. Feast your eyes on some shots below!
Laura spent a lovely relaxed morning getting ready at her parents home in Stevenage with her family and bridesmaids. Ben had ridden over to the house first thing in the morning on a vintage bike that he had restored for her as a wedding present, complete with a basket full of breakfast goodies for the girls to enjoy! It was so lovely seeing her opened the numbered envelopes, and even watching a video Ben had recorded in advance!
Laura wore an absolutely stunning gown – ‘Meryl’ by Maggie Sottero, accessorised with a beautiful flower crown, and looked absolutely incredible. We stopped for a few photos in the garden, and everyone then made their way to the ceremony, with Laura and her Dad in a fancy wedding car.
The ceremony took place at a Catholic church in Welwyn Garden City. It was a moving ceremony, full of so much love and private smiles. A couple of the groomsmen sung and played guitar whilst the couple signed the register, which was a lovely personal touch.
After the ceremony, the guests pelted the couple with confetti, and everyone enjoyed some cake and fizz outside the church, which was really lovely. We stopped off en route to the wedding reception at Offley Place for couples portraits in the Hertfordshire countryside so that the newlyweds they could have some romantic couples photos in beautiful surroundings. I got some really special couples photos in the field – Laura and Ben are just so relaxed with each other in front of the camera, I could have photographed them all day! The weather was a bit drizzly, but that didn’t bother them at all.
For the reception, the couple had planned lawn games and an outdoor photo booth for their guests, and everyone loved it. The guests mingled and enjoyed drinks during the reception whilst I did my thing with the group photographs. Everyone was then called in for dinner, which was a slap up meal. It was absolutely delicious – as the food always is at Offley! The meal was followed by speeches, which were so emotional. I always love hearing the speeches at weddings, but Ben’s in particular was so sincere and beautifully put to explain his love for Laura that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house by the end, including mine!
One of the best parts of the wedding was just after the speeches, when the golden sun appeared over the trees and cast the most beautiful light into the front garden of Offley Place, because despite more rain, Laura and Ben were totally up for standing out in it and even threw a dab – the light was incredible and backlighting the rain was totally magical! The evening ended with all their guests throwing shapes on the dance floor, after Laura and Ben had cut the cake and had their first dance, accompanied by a jazz band.
The whole wedding was just the happiest occasion, from the grand church service to the wonderful speeches. Laura, Ben and their family and friends were the friendliest bunch and so lovely to photograph. Plus, Offley is one of my favourite local venues, so the day was a bit of a dream all in all!
I loved this Offley Place wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for an Offley Place wedding photographer, get in touch. Here are the photos!
