Outdoor Family Photography
It was a sunny Friday evening when I travelled up to Worcestershire to meet up with Dominique and Nick at the pretty Lickey Hills Country Park. I first met this lovely pair way back at the National Wedding Show in March 2016, and they booked me as their wedding photographer soon after, which I was delighted about!
Dominique and Nick decided to bring their two gorgeous little boys with them on their Engagement shoot – twin boys Zachary and Oscar, so this shoot ended up being a little more like one of my Family shoots than a typical Engagement shoot. It was so lovely to get to know the four of them as a family, and I have to say the boys well and truly stole my heart by the end of the session!
We spent some time walking in the hills and enjoying the lovely views. It was quite tricky to navigate at times, with two boys full of energy and a double pushchair, but we managed it!
Space to be themselves
I love to do my family shoots outdoors in the open, so the little ones have space to run around and really be themselves. The boys were a little shy to begin with but I think I won them over by playing some games, and including mum and dad in them too! I think the key thing with outdoor family photography is to keep things interesting. The little ones get bored quickly, so we didn’t spend too long in any one place, and I followed them around here and there, to capture family life in all its craziness and hilarity as well as all the lovely little moments too.
Of course, we still managed to get some shots of Dominique and Nick together as well – it was their engagement shoot after all!
I’ve actually already shot their lovely wedding in the pretty village of Codsall, West Midlands, which no doubt I will be blogging in due course!
