Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer
Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE Christmas! I am a total sucker for a pretty Christmas tree and lovely festive details. So I was really excited to be invited to be a part of this lovely wedding as a second shooter in one of the Oxford University Colleges last December.
This was my final wedding of 2016, and it was a very early start. I arrived at the college first thing in the morning to capture the couple preparing for their big day. The atmosphere was lovely with so much anticipation for the day to come. I loved all the festive touches that the couple incorporated throughout their day. There were gifts for the wedding party in Christmas Stockings, and festive foliage and pine cones in the groomsmen’s buttonholes.
The wedding service took place in the college chapel, and featured music provided by the Father-of-the-Bride and also her sister. It was really a family affair, and so personal! After the vows were exchanged, the room erupted with cheers as the newlyweds exchanged their first kiss. The guests enjoyed a few glasses of something fizzy as I captured some of the details around the venue. There was an epic wall of photos, and the most intricate and involved seating plan I think I’ve ever seen…
Details, details!
So much thought and planning had gone into this wedding. To find their seat each guest located a parcel in the pigeonhole table plan, indicating the ‘address’ for where they’d be sitting in the reception room. This parcel included a puzzle which would help them and the other guests at their table unlock a secret code to a padlocked treasure chest. Each table was located on the bride and groom’s reference map of the world inspired by TV shows, books and sci-fi!
After a delicious meal in the hall with it’s twinkling Christmas trees, we popped outside for some photographs with the lovely couple, followed by drinks and partying! An excellent ‘a cappella’ choir entertained guests while they sipped after dinner drinks. Before long everyone headed down the road to the University club for cake, drinks and dancing!
Another lovely Christmassy touch could be found in the club as the evening guests joined the party. A bare Christmas tree stood by the entrance of the club. However, it wasn’t bare for long! The guests brought tree decorations as gifts for the couple and hung them on the tree as they arrived. Personalised, festive or quirky – there were so many decorations, it was one of my favourite personal touches I’ve seen!
This was a great wedding, and a fantastic way to round off a brilliant year!
