Winter is usually quiet season for me but I was delighted when Suzannah and Tom asked me to capture their wedding day, which was also combined with dual birthday celebrations!
Oxford Town Hall Wedding
Suzannah and Tom got married in January at the spectacular Oxford Town Hall, which is a stunning ballroom in Oxford town centre. It was the most beautiful wedding and I loved the gorgeous black tie theme!
The ceremony
The ceremony was an intimate affair in the Town Hall’s Assembly Room. Oxford Town Hall is a Victorian Grade II listed building and really encapsulates the history and grandeur of the city itself. The Assembly Room as a gorgeous ornate fireplace and was the perfect setting for Suzannah and Tom to say their ‘I do’s’. During the ceremony they had some great readings by their friends from famous literature, including one the Jabberwocky, which I loved. It was so personal and so unique. Tom and Suzannah walked down the aisle together which was a lovely moment. When Tom saw his bride to be entering his face was a picture!
After the ceremony
The couple organised a drinks reception in the library immediately after the ceremony. They had a homemade bar set up in the afternoon with a keg of favourite beer, and they decorated the room with photos of the couple over the years. All this kept guests entertained whilst I stole them away for a few quick photos on the steps of the Town Hall. Being January, the light was against us a bit so we had to be quick! We had originally suggested having a few quick photos around the corner at Tom and Suzannah’s old Oxford College where they first met. Unfortunately it was too cold and rainy so we decided not to stray too far away!
The wedding breakfast and main reception took place in the incredible Main Hall. The hall is truly spectacular and it looked absolutely beautiful. They decorated the room with monochrome anemones, foliage and candles, and everyone had their own little bottle of homemade damson gin, which was handmade by the couples parents. I loved the monochrome colour scheme of the stationery and other wedding details. It was so classy and really suited the couple and their black tie theme.
For dinner they served a slap up meal, which was loved by all the guests. The first dance was played by the live band, and after a few twirls Suzannah and Tom encouraged the rest of their guests to bundle in and join them on the dance floor. They finished off the evening with a countdown to midnight in celebration of Suzannah and Tom’s birthdays which were on the following two days. There was such a lovely party atmosphere!
The couple
Suzannah wore the most incredible dress – Daystar by Abigail of Gardenia. It was covered with two tone sequins which glimmered all day. By the evening she was almost all gold! Tom wore a very dapper velvet tux and they both looked incredible. Suzannah’s flowers were monochrome anemones, which also decorated a lot of the venue. They were absolutely stunning and so classy.
The couple met at university when they both attended Oxford together and have been together for years. I love celebrating weddings like this, when the couple have been together for ages and just want to celebrate their love and party with all their nearest and dearest!
It was a black tie wedding, which was brilliant – I loved how glam everyone looked. I love shooting Oxford weddings weddings because of the history of the city and it’s buildings – there are so many beautiful places for photographs everywhere you look. This particular Oxford Town Hall wedding was really stunning and I loved all the details that the couple put into the day.
Suzannah and Tom’s wedding had such a fun atmosphere and was absolutely gorgeous. Here’s their Oxford Town Hall wedding!
