If you’re looking for impactful décor for your wedding reception, then this wedding will give you all the inspo and more!
When Emma and Craig first got in touch with me about their wedding, I was so excited – their plans sounded amazing, with incredible decorative touches. Emma and Craig are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
The preparations
I started at the gorgeous Fanhams Hall in Ware, where the bride was getting ready. The atmosphere was bubbling with excitement and emotion – Emma was just so happy to be getting married to Craig. One of my favourite moments was when she opened a personalised gift from Craig – there were a few tears! Emma had such a lovely time with her bridesmaids in the morning and she didn’t stop smiling the whole time!
The bride wore a stunning high necked white dress by Kenneth Winston and looked totally amazing, and her girls wore dresses from Phase Eight.

The Legal Bit
The wedding took place at in the Long Gallery at Fanhams, and was a beautiful ceremony. They had lots of foliage to decorate the aisle, which looked really effective. Another favourite moment from the day was when Craig saw Emma walking down the aisle – there were more tears, these two were literally so happy to be getting married and there was so much emotion!
After the ceremony (and lots of tears!) the drinks reception took place indoors as the weather outdoors was a bit dodgy, despite taking place in August! However, we did manage a quick dive outside during a break in the rain for some confetti! We did some quick formal photos in the Long Gallery too, which worked well as there was plenty of lovely natural light there with the big beautiful windows.
The Afternoon
The wedding reception took place in the Great Hall, which was adorned with the most incredible installation of gold balloons hanging from the ceiling! It looked absolutely amazing! It was complemented with lots of foliage and flowers created by Two Girls and Some Flowers.
It was a slightly rainy day, which wasn’t in the plan but the couple didn’t mind. While the guests enjoyed canapes and cocktails, we took portrait photos in the beautiful grounds of the venue. My favourite photo from the afternoon is is the photo on the gorgeous Fanhams bridges in the gardens. Check it out below!
Guests were seated for the wedding breakfast, and they had proper wedding grub, which was loved by all the guests. Afterwards, the speeches were a particular highlight of the day with lots of laughs and tears!
The couple cut the wedding cake and the DJ played all the best songs to get everyone dancing. They also had a photobooth, which was a huge hit, particularly with some of the more inebriated guests!
Rainy Wedding Day?
If it’s set to be a rainy day, don’t panic! There are often plenty of spaces indoors that you can use for formal photos, and it’s always fun to cuddle up under an umbrella together for some cosy couples portraits. Check out my blog on what to do if it rains on your wedding day. At Emma and Craig’s wedding we dashed outside last thing in the evening to take some cool photos in the rain which are some of my favorite shots from the day.
Lovely Words
‘You were honestly so amazing. I really felt like you were my fourth bridesmaid. So many guests have commented on how great and laid back you were, everyone loved you! If we could plan our wedding again, we would choose you as our photographer every single time.’ – Emma & Craig
