Your Local Wedding Blog for Herts, Beds, Bucks & Cambs

This week’s blog is all about the very lovely Becca, who runs Engage Weddings, a local wedding blog for couples getting married in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire.

Becca is a wedding expert and business extraordinaire, and a trustworthy and informative source for all things ‘wedding’ in the local area. I have had the pleasure of doing a couple of branding shoots for her in the past, so I thought it was high time I introduced everyone to her and what her business is all about!

Becca’s blog is a hugely useful resource for local brides and grooms to be. There’s loads of excellent articles about all kinds of topics, from venues, to current trends, beauty tips and fashion advice.

Engage weddings recently had an exciting live event on Facebook, where for a week, Becca went live and interviewed local suppliers, gave tips and advice to brides and grooms to be, and had loads of exciting giveaways and chances to win exciting prizes! Becca is always coming up with new and exciting ways to help local brides and grooms plan their wedding. I caught up with her to hear all about Engage Weddings.

Hello Becca! Tell me all about your business!

Hello! I’m Becca and I run Engage Weddings. Engage Weddings is a LOCAL wedding blog to help brides and grooms from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire. Everything that I feature is local and all of the wedding businesses that I recommend are local too. If you are getting married in one of the four areas that I cover then you need to go and take a look!

Tell me more about YOU

I live in central Bedfordshire with my husband and two children. I have been married for 9 years and was only 23 when I tied the knot! I absolutely love musical theatre and I love to perform myself when I have time. I used to work in television and radio and have met some amazing celebrities in my time including Andrew Lloyd Webber who was my hero (but turned out to not be that nice!)

How long have you been in business and how did you get to where you are now?

I started my own wedding videography business back in 2010 whilst pregnant with my first child. I started Engage Weddings in 2016 as a way to meet other local wedding business owners in the area. Engage Weddings exploded and is now my main business, I had to close the video business last year to make sure I had the time needed to focus on making Engage the best it could be.

What is your biggest business highlight?

I LOVE it when I meet an amazing couple – in person or online and then I find them an amazing wedding business owner for them to book for their wedding that I know they will love! I love helping people turn their ideas into a reality whilst supporting local small business owners.

What top tips would you give a couple organising their big day?

Don’t try and have a Pinterest perfect wedding on a shoe string budget. It’s better to prioritise a few key aspects of your day and to do them well. Don’t try and spread your budget and do everything cheaply, it just doesn’t work!

What is your favourite type of wedding?

I love weddings which are all about the people – for me the wedding day is to celebrate you marrying the love of your life and that’s the most important thing. I love wedding days which are full of personal touches and surrounded by love!

What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead?

2020 is set to be another exciting year for Engage Weddings with new ideas in the pipeline and the return of Engage Weddings Live – so watch this space! I’m also looking for real brides who are planning their wedding and would like to be featured on the blog next year! If you would be interested, send an email to becca@engageweddings.co.uk

If you’re getting married in the Herts, Beds, Bucks and Cambs and are after some advice and inspiration then I’d highly recommend checking out Engage Weddings! You can find all the relevant links below.

I’m lucky enough to have been featured on Engage myself, and you can find some of my work on there including Mel & Rob’s wintery Offley Place wedding, and my Winter Luxe Styled shoot from last year.

If you’re a wedding supplier, I would also highly recommend that you check out Becca’s supplier-facing arm of Engage Weddings. Becca runs a very active and popular supplier network on Facebook, and also hosts free networking events for local suppliers regularly. She also runs the incredible Engage Members Club, which includes loads of great training and opportunities to build relationships within the industry. I’d highly recommend that you take a look!

I took these images of the lovely Becca during her branding shoot. If you’re a business owner and are interested in getting some branding images off yourself, your products and your business, then please do get in touch to see how I can help you!
