Sarah and Aaron’s beautiful Springtime wedding at Coltsfoot Country Retreat was full of pretty colours, personal touches and lots of love
Sarah and Aaron first got in touch with me after I met them at a wedding fair – they told me all about their springtime wedding in Hertfordshire, I was so happy when they asked me to capture it for them! They were planning a romantic rustic wedding with a home made sweetie cart, and loads of other personal touches. After their pre-wedding shoot at Hatfield House, we got to know each other quite well – Sarah and Aaron are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Bridal prep
I began the morning at Sarah’s parents place, where the girls were getting ready, and it was so much fun, and everyone was super excited. It was lovely to work with the wonderful Michelle from Make Up Artistry London again, and the morning was full of giggles and fun. Sarah wore a stunning lace gown by Stella York and she looked utterly gorgeous. I particularly loved her dad’s reaction on seeing her in her dress for the first time – so proud and happy!
The ceremony
The wedding took place at the family’s local church in Wheathampstead, which is a really beautiful old church set in lovely grounds. They had some beautiful readings, which everyone enjoyed. A favourite moment in the ceremony was when Sarah’s mum stopped the vicar to make sure he knew that there was still one more hymn to sing! After the ceremony to a soundtrack of church bells, we did confetti a confetti walk along the pathway, and then a few quick group shots in the lovely church grounds. After that, it was a hop into the vintage car which swept the newlyweds off to their reception at Coltsfoot.
The afternoon
The wedding reception took place at Coltsfoot Country Retreat, which is one of my favourite Hertfordshire venues.
It was a bright and sunny day, which was really perfect and allowed everyone to be outside and enjoy the springtime weather. While the guests enjoyed canapés and cocktails, the couple mingled while I took candids. My favourite photo from the afternoon is the ones of the couple out in the lane at Colstfoot – I love how happy Sarah looks – she literally didn’t stop smiling all day long!
During the reception they had a sweet cart, which had been handmade by Aaron’s dad and had literally the most sweets I have ever seen on a sweet cart! For dinner they had a fancy meal and it was delicious – the food at Coltsfoot always is! After the meal came the speeches – one of my favourite bits of the day, as I love to learn more about the couple – I always end up finding out something I didn’t know! After the speeches, everyone migrated to the bar and the room was changed around for dancing!
During the turnaround, we nipped out for a few quick photos on the back field, but I ended up grabbing the couple again as despite a cloudy sky, there was a really beautiful sunset with a gorgeous orange glow – it looked incredible!
It was then time to cut the cake (a beautiful one from my lovely friend Nina at Meadowsweet Cakes) and then everyone hit the dancefloor for the evening. Thank you so much to Sarah and Aaron for allowing me to be a part of your special day!
