Summer Westwood Hotel Wedding in Oxford – Sophie & Chris
Sophie and Chris’ gorgeous wedding at the Westwood Hotel was full of stunning vintage touches and a soft pastel palette
Sophie and Chris got married in August at the lovely Westwood Hotel, which is a pretty hotel in just outside the centre of Oxford. They had their ceremony at the same venue as the reception, which was great, because having everything in one venue meant more time for mingling. They chose The Westwood Hotel, because they could have the run of the place, and plenty of accommodation for their friends and family too. It was a fun filled wedding, which had a real party atmosphere in the evening, which I loved – it’s always great when guests are up for a good boogie!
Getting ready
Sophie got ready at the hotel with her lovely bridesmaids, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. There were several emotional moments when gifts were handed out, and when the girls all saw Sophie in her dress for the first time! Everyone had to work hard not to cry and spoil their make up!
Chris got ready in a room close by in the hotel, so there was a bit of logistical management to make sure nobody ran into each other in the corridors! There were lots of laughs as the boys made their preparations and had a few drinks for a bit of dutch courage! The groom then waited patiently for his bride to be to make her way down to the ceremony. I don’t think Chris wanted to show it, but he was quite nervous waiting for Sophie to arrive!
Sophie was then accompanied down the stairs to the ceremony by her very proud dad. It was a lovely moment, you can really see how proud he is of his little girl!
The ceremony
The wedding itself was a legal ceremony in the brightly lit restaurant area of the hotel. During the ceremony the couples exchanged some really sincere and meaningful vows. It was so emotional. I don’t often get teary during weddings but even I had to hide behind my camera a little – you could really tell how special the moment was for these two lovely people, having all their friends and family there to share in the moment that they were married.
One of my favourite parts of the day was just after the ceremony, when all the guests joined in with the acoustic singer when he played the Beatles whilst the couple were signing the register! It was great having a sing-along mid ceremony!
The afternoon
As the reception was at the same venue, everyone merely needed to make their way out into the pretty gardens to enjoy some tasty reception drinks. There was also an awesome confetti throw (one of my favourite parts of the day!) just after the ceremony. Sophie and Chris decorated the venue with beautiful flowers and gave seeds as favours, which I thought was a lovely idea. For dinner they had some seriously tasty food, which went down really well with all the guests. The first dance took place after the cutting of the cake (hand made by Sophie’s step mum), and they finished off the evening with lots of dancing.
Another highlight of the day for me was watching Chris’s Granny Mary throwing some shapes on the dance floor – she was absolutely loving it!
Sophie and Chris’s wedding was so much fun and had such a chilled vibe. Here are some photos of their wonderful wedding!
