Hello June!
This year, May and June have been two of my busiest ever wedding months with a total of 12 weddings across both months. I’m over half way through my 7 June weddings now (and my three wedding weekend extravaganza is behind me!) and I’m feeling good. Just lots and lots of editing to do now!
Three of my lovely May weddings feature in this month’s round up which is really lovely – it’s always exciting to share little sneak peek posts just after the big day that give my couples a little taster of what’s to come with their photos!
As always, here’s my run down of this month’s shots!
#Five
Rachel and Dave celebrated their wedding in Harpenden (at a lovely church, with beautiful big windows – I was a very happy photographer when I walked in there!) on the early May bank holiday this year, and celebrated the reception at the Hatfield House Old Palace. When I walked into the courtyard from the car park and saw all this gorgeous wisteria I definitely did a little happy dance! I blood love wisteria, it’s sooooo pretty and such a fleeting flower that you have to time it just right for the time of year. Luckily it was out in force for this wedding so I couldn’t resist grabbing this gorgeous couple for some shots by it. In fact, we used it as the backdrop for all the group photos! I had such a lovely time at Rachel and Dave’s wedding, and this little preview that I did for them is one of my faves! They look wonderful, especially Rachel in her lovely Townhouse Bridal dress.

I was lucky enough to be at one of my favourite local venues, Coltsfoot Country Retreat, for two days running at the end of May for two beautiful weddings! This shot is from the Friday, and the celebrations of Sarah and Aaron. At this time of the year, once the first dance is done I’m always running in and out to capture dance-floor shots but also to keep an eye on the sky, and work out whether something awesome is about to happen with the light. On this particular day, it definitely did! I love a bit of golden light magic and you can see the extra heart eyes it gives this shot of Sarah and Aaron taking a stroll in the fields at the back of this gorgeous venue. No doubt Sarah and Aaron will be the stars of a blog post coming your way very soon, but in the meantime, you can see more of them on their pre-wedding shoot here.
#Three
In at number three this month is the second of my two days at Coltsfoot Country Retreat. Hannah and Carl totally rocked their day, with so much fun stuff going on! There were tugs of war, gin hoopla and they even had a space hopper race last thing in the evening which was hilarious! I adore this shot of Mr and Mrs Yates making their way down the aisle after their outdoor ceremony, framed by the gorgeous florals of Lamberts Flower Company. Can’t wait to share more from the beautiful wedding! Their engagement shoot will be up on the blog soon too!
#Two
I love a details shot, but I particularly love to capture them in context. It’s all very well taking a photo of a gorgeous wedding dress on a pretty hanger in a nice location, but really, they always look so much better when they’re being worn – don’t you think? I love this detail shot from Chloe and Sam’s super cool Soho wedding from 2017, starring Chloe’s gorgeous Phase Eight wedding dress, her beautiful bouquet from Wild At Heart, and also featuring Sam’s Asos suit and custom silk tie and pocket square. Check out more from their wedding on my blog here, or also on their English Wedding Blog feature here.
#One
May’s winning photo is from the same sequence of shots that gave me last month’s top picture! It’s of Laura and Ben having a moment in the rain and gorgeous golden sun at their Offley Place wedding last summer. The light is just amazing – it says it all really! This is a little lesson in why you should embrace the rain on your wedding day! You can see lots more from this beautiful summer wedding on my blog here.
So there you go – that was May, and my top wedding photos of the month. As always, I’d be delighted if you’d head on over to my Instagram account to follow me. And if you like and interact with a few posts, your favourites might make my top five for June. I’ve just had a little look at my analytics and there are lots of shots I’m really excited to share already! Don’t forget, if you’re interested to see previous top photos, you can take a look online here!
See you next month (of before of course, there are lots more blogs scheduled to come your way before then!)
