FAQ’s

Below are answers to some of the questions I’m frequently asked by prospective clients. Click below to find the answers!

You’re based in Hertfordshire, but do you travel?

Absolutely, I’ve captured weddings across the country and I’m more than happy to travel anywhere for stories of love. My prices include travel to your venue within mainland UK, but if you’re getting married over 60 miles from me (AL7), then I’ll book in at a local B&B. This avoids any stress (yours and mine!) of racing down busy motorways and getting stuck in traffic on the morning of your wedding. A small additional fee of £150 covers the two nights of accommodation.

What happens if you’re ill on the day?

Touch wood, this has never happened to me. But trust me, it would have to be something pretty serious to stop me being there on your big day (we’re talking a missing arm, struck by lightning, that sort of thing!). But I’m always prepared, and should I get caught by a bolt of lightning, I have a wide network of fabulous photographer friends who would be able to step in at the last minute. So you can relax knowing that we’d be able to find you someone with a similar style to me at short notice!

Do you edit your images?

Yes, all my images are lightly edited in my signature style to help them look their best and bring them together as a single collection of images that beautifully tell the story of your day. This isn’t to be confused with re-touching, and I don’t do cosmetic airbrushing to make people look skinny- I’m all about keeping it authentic.

Are you insured?

Yes, this is really important and most venues will require your suppliers to be covered. I have Public Liability Insurance up to £5 million, and Professional Indemnity Insurance to cover any eventuality.

We don’t really like having our photographs taken….

I hear you and I’m exactly same. This is why I don’t go in for the ‘say cheese’ photos- they only get you fake smiles that people cringe inwardly doing! Nothing beats the natural smiles that come from you just being yourselves, having a giggle together. It’s my job to help you feel at ease and enjoy the experience, and I do offer some light direction so that you don’t feel like a lemon standing there. I have a relaxed style so that we can just get to know each other as friends, with lots of my couples telling me that they forget I’m taking their picture after the first five minutes!

Do you shoot weddings overseas?

Yes! I love destination weddings (so many drop dead gorgeous settings!) and am more than happy to discuss your plans for an overseas wedding. Once you’ve chosen a photography package, flights, two nights of accommodation and a rental car are additional and to be covered by you.

We’d like to meet you before we decide – can we?

Yes please, if you’re local then I’d love to meet you to discuss your photography and hear all about your plans for your big day. We can catch up over a cuppa face to face, or alternatively if time/distance is tricky, we can arrange a Skype call. Just drop me a line to get the ball rolling.

We love your work – how do we book you?

That’s great to hear! As I take on a limited amount of bookings each year and frequently book up over a year in advance, it’s a good idea to secure me for your date sooner rather than later. You can do this by paying the £500 deposit, completing a booking form, and signing our agreement- all of which can be done online. Once that’s done, I’m all yours for the big day! Your remaining balance is due 60 days before the date of your wedding.

What should we expect once we’ve booked?

Once you’ve secured me for your wedding date, I’ll be in touch every now and then to see how you’re getting on with the rest of your plans, and if you’re having a pre-wedding shoot, we can schedule that in. At around the time your balance is due, I’ll send you a wedding questionnaire, which will inform the day plan that I’ll put together for your wedding. We’ll then go through this during your consultation, which is usually done over Skype, or face to face if you’re local to Welwyn Garden City.

What’s your favourite kind of wedding to photograph?

It would be so hard for me to pick one particular ‘style’ of wedding to shoot, because for me it’s all about you and your uniqueness. That’s what makes it special, not just the way it’s been styled. I suppose my favourite kind of wedding is really one where the couple and guests are relaxed and just want to have an amazing day! That said, I am rather partial to a beautiful barn or marquee setting…!
